A new linear electron accelerator for the treatment of oncological patients has been installed at the Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital

Modern medicine does not stop looking for new opportunities to improve patient’s quality of life and treatment effectiveness. In 2023, the A.Medical team implemented a project at the Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital, where our partner Elekta’s linear electron accelerator “Elekta Harmony Pro” was installed in the oncology clinic. The hospital is an excellent example of how modern technologies can significantly affect the treatment process of oncology patients.

At the oncology clinic, our partner Elekta linear electron converter machine, Elekta Harmony Pro, was installed, which will help oncology patients improve their treatment process. Linear electron enhancer is designed to deliver high-quality three-dimensional space and intensity-modulated radiotherapy to oncology patients. Modern new technology delivers:

  • a significantly reduce the impact on the patient by offering a gentle treatment approach;
  • it minimally affects healthy tissues and organs and does not cause unpleasant and long-lasting radiation therapy side effects to the patient.

Prof. Eva Strike, Chief Medical Officer of Stradins Hospital: “Our hospital is the place where the first oncology department was established in Latvia. As much as its functionality continued, it was something new then, special, human health and life-saving. The result of the work is reflected in the number of people we have been able to help. The Centenary of the hospital was the moment we discovered the first linear accelerator after renovation, and only in our dreams could we want two new facilities in a short period. Thank you to everyone who did not lose this dream until we got to world-class technology!”

Stradiņš Hospital continues to develop, improving its medical infrastructure and offering patients the best possible treatments. This project is a step forward in a future where medical equipment and technology work hand in hand to give patients optimal treatment and hope for a fulfilling life.
